Anwar Rathore

The Anwar Ratol mango—sometimes spelled Anwar Rathore—is a prized mango cultivar renowned for its exceptional sweetness, rich aroma, and nearly fiberless flesh. It is particularly celebrated in Pakistan and India, where it is considered one of the finest mango varieties.

Origins & History
The Anwar Ratol mango traces its roots to Rataul, a village in Uttar Pradesh, India. In the early 20th century, Sheikh Mohd Afaq Faridi discovered a unique mango tree near his farm and began grafting it. By 1928, he had established a nursery named Shohra-e-Afaq, and by 1935, the mango variety was officially registered.

Following the partition in 1947, the variety was introduced to Pakistan, where it flourished in the Punjab and Sindh regions. The mango is named after Anwar, a grower who migrated from Rataul to Pakistan, bringing the cultivar with him.
